Research Pro Information

The Oak Lawn Public Library is now offering access to a group of databases called “Research Pro”.  This group offers users the ability to search a topic in a single database or simultaneously in multiple databases (federated searching). Research Pro databases offer considerable variety in their topic areas; they are broadly classified into areas including biography, business, encyclopedias, research, health and science, homework/student help, history, hobbies and home improvement.

These databases are also accessible remotely with an Oak Lawn library card following a shortcut on our homepage. To view a complete list and access individual databases click above or go to: Library Resources—Indexes and Databases—Research Pro.

The ENCORE online catalog can be used to search the holdings at Oak Lawn and the Metropolitan Library System in a Google-type setting. Look for updates this fall that will use “federated searching“ to combine search results from the online catalog AND the Research Pro databases.
