Helpful HintsRead the Oak Lawn Public Library Board Policy for Use of Community Meeting Rooms thoroughly before submitting your application. To apply, pick up an Application for Use of Community Meeting Rooms at the library's Reception Booth, first floor. The completed application may be dropped off at the Reception Booth or returned to the library by mail, Attn: Public Relations. See also "Application Process and Reservations" under Board Policy. Be prepared to state the name of the organization, the purpose of the meeting, the number of persons expected to attend and the dates and times you would like to reserve the meeting room. You must also provide a contact name and phone number which the library can give out to the public for referrals to your group/organization. Meetings are scheduled up to six months in advance.
Information regarding meeting room availability may be obtained by telephone, 708-422-4990; however, reservations cannot be confirmed until the application has been received and approved by the Public Relations Officer. The Library requires a minimum of two weeks to process an application. Applications are approved on a first-come, first-served basis within 14 working days of receipt of the completed application. Payment of any applicable fees for use by non-residents and groups/organizations not based in Oak Lawn is required for confirmation of the reservation date(s). Make sure you reserve adequate time for your meeting. For instance, if you plan to begin your program/meeting at 7 p.m. and need time to set up, book the room for 6 p.m. or 6:30 p.m. Remember that you must vacate the room 15 minutes before the library closes. Don't wait too long to reserve a meeting room. The library's meeting rooms are heavily used and timeslots fill quickly. Plan ahead! If you have any questions or concerns, contact the Public Relations Office, 708-422-4990.
