Family Program - Animal Awareness

Visit the Oak Lawn Library on Sunday, Jan. 29 from 2:30-4 p.m. for "Animal Awareness" - a Youth Services Department program for children ages 3 and up.

Animals for Awareness - a shelter in Palos Park that takes in wild and exotic animals that cannot be cared for at other dog and cat shelters - will bring a variety of animals, including an alligator, parrot, snake, kinkajou and a Canada lynx. There will be opportunities for audience members to pet the animals. No advance registration. Donations of canned or fresh mixed veggies and mixed fruit will be gratefully accepted!


Opera Lecture - Show Boat

The Oak Lawn Library will host a free lecture on the opera “Show Boat” on Sunday, Jan. 29 at 1:30 p.m. At this informative session, a member of the Lyric Opera Lecture Corps will explain the plot, play musical selections and give background on the composer. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Oak Lawn Public Library.

The Library now has a mobile site

Movie Check-Out for Minors

Beginning  Jan. 2, 2012, parents may visit the Circulation Desk to sign a form giving their children and teens permission to check out movies.

Children and teens will be allowed rental rights on their individual Oak Lawn Library cards, provided a parent or guardian has submitted a signed permission form.

Movie rentals are $0.50 per item for Oak Lawn residents.
